After the defeat by Reading on May 9, the Piranhas (0-1-1) responded well against the Nor’Easters, showing much heart in the nail-biting final minutes of play; scoring once in the 85th and again in the 90th minutes to capture a draw. Whatever Saturday brings, the fast-paced intensity the Rangers are known for is sure to keep head coach Leroi Wilson on his toes. He has proven to be flexible, and shown that he’s not afraid to utilize the Piranhas’ deep bench for fresh legs and tactics.
This Saturday is a new day for the Piranhas, as they face the Rangers at the Sportsplex in the first match of a doubleheader. The W-League Piranhas are set to match up against Charlotte at 8 p.m. following the men’s game.
Striker Mamadou Kone and midfielder Bryan Iotte have tallied one goal each in the two matches this season; both goals coming in the final five minutes of regular time. The duo will be present this Saturday along with starting goalkeeper Ryan Zmuda, who averages eight key saves per game. The conditions are just right for the PDL Piranhas to snag their first win of the season. Piranhas’ fans, this is not a match you will want to miss. All Piranhas home games will be played at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.
