W-LEAGUE PIRANHAS ADD TWO LOCAL STANDOUTS TO DEFENSIVE LINE
First Colonial and Princess Anne stars Meaghan Dullea and Katy Winsper join team

Virginia Beach, Virginia – The W-League Piranhas are proud to announce the signings of defenders Meaghan Dullea and Katy Winsper to the women’s team this week. Both players shined on the local level – Dullea at First Colonial and Winsper at Princess Anne.

Dullea, a sophomore at Virginia Commonwealth University is in her second season with the Rams. She played in 19 games in 2009, starting 18 and registered three assists from the back. Her final season at First Colonial, she served as team captain and earned First Team All-District, All-Region and All-State honors. She was also named Rookie of the Year as a freshman.  Dullea, who played her club ball with Virginia Rush Nike, was captain of her team that won the Disney Showcase in 2008.
 
Winsper, who played for the Piranhas in 2007 and for the Piranhas’ Super 20 squad in 2006, is a junior at William and Mary and started all 19 games in 2009, scoring two goals and two assists. As a freshman, Winsper was named to the CAA All-Rookie Team and to the Mid-Atlantic All-Rookie Team by Soccer Buzz. At Princess Anne, she was selected to the All-State Second Team as a sophomore, honored as a VHSCA All-Star in 2006, was twice named to the All-Region First Team, named First Team All-Beach and Second-Team All-Tidewater twice and was Co-Rookie of the Year in 2003. Winsper played her club ball with the Beach FC MajiX; FC MajiX was a five-time State Cup semifinalist. She was also a member of the ODP Virginia State Team.
 
Piranhas’ head coach Wendy Waddell welcomes her two new players. “We are trying to create a little competition among the members of our squad,” she said. “We have to try to stay more organized in the back and create more scoring chances up front.” The Piranhas’ will switch from a 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3 for Sunday’s match.
