Tampa -In their 2010 regular season finale Saturday evening at the Ed Radice Sports Complex, the Hampton Roads Piranhas fell to Tampa Bay 3-0.

Germantown, Maryland – Playing in their second match in less than 24 hours, the W-League Piranhas traveled to the Maryland Soccerplex to take on Eastern Conference co-leader, the Washington Freedom Future and came away with a 5-0 loss Sunday.

Fairfax, Virginia – The W-League Piranhas (1-3-2) dropped a last minute heartbreaker to the Northern Virginia Majestics (1-3-0) Saturday night at George Mason University Robinson Field. The two teams faced off on June 5 at the Sportsplex with the Piranhas coming out on top by the same score.

Virginia Beach, Virginia – After snagging their first win of the season, the W-League Piranhas head north for the weekend for two away matches. On Saturday, June 12 at 5:30 p. m. they will play a rematch with the Northern Virginia Majestics at George Mason University’s Robinson Field. They will kick off against Washington at the Freedom Future’s home field, the Maryland Soccer Plex at 6 p. m. the very next night.

PIRANHAS FORWARD EMILY KITTLESON NAMED TO W-LEAGUE TEAM OF THE WEEK
Tampa, Florida - United Soccer Leagues announced the W-League Team of the Week today, honoring Hampton Roads Piranhas’ forward Emily Kittleson for the goal she scored that sparked her team’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Atlanta on May 30. Kittleson, from Virginia Beach is a Princess Anne High School and William and Mary grad.
In the 21st minute of the match, Rachel Gerdin slipped a ball to Kittleson, who was who was holding the high line. Kittleson was able to lose her mark and beat the keeper on a 1 v. 1. It was a very special goal for the Piranhas - it ended the Piranhas’ three-game, scoreless drought, destroyed Atlanta’s clean sheet on the season, and cut their deficit in half. It was also the first goal scored on the Silverbacks this season.
Kittleson is the second member of the W-League Piranhas to be honored. Last week, United Soccer Leagues named Piranhas defender Rachel Gerdin as a selection. Gerdin was picked for her strong defensive performance in the Piranhas 0-0 draw with the Charlotte Lady Eagles at Charlotte Christian Stadium on May 14.

TAMPA, FL – For the second consecutive year, the W-League season will open with the Hampton Roads Piranhas visiting the Charlotte Eagles in a showdown of two of the league’s oldest teams. The match on Friday, May 14 opens the 163-game schedule for the league, which wraps up regular season play on July 18.
