PDL PIRANHAS SEASON OPENER POSTPONED
Men's Saturday night’s match put on hold due to field conditions at Virginia Wesleyan

Virginia Beach, Virginia – The season opener for the PDL Piranhas has been postponed because of excessive water on Trinder Center/Foster Field at Virginia Wesleyan College. The Piranhas were slated to host the Virginia Legacy tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in their first match of 2009.

The Piranhas are working quickly with the Legacy and the Premier Development League to reschedule the match. The game is a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifier for both teams so it must be played by May 25, the final day for PDL teams to qualify. The Piranhas’ other Open Cup qualifiers are May 20 at Reading and May 23 at the Virginia Royals.  An announcement of the make-up date should be released by Monday, May 11.

The W-League Piranhas are on the road tonight against Charlotte in their 2009 season opener. This match marks the opener for the entire women’s league and is being billed as a clash of two former W-League champions. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Charlotte Christian Stadium.
