PDL AND W-LEAGUE PIRANHAS DRAW AND LOSE AT CARY SUNDAY NIGHT
PDL Sides Tie 0-0; Cary Lady Clarets pull the upset 5-3
Cary, North Carolina – The PDL and W-League Piranhas traveled south Sunday night to take on the Cary Clarets and the Lady Clarets in a doubleheader at Middle Creek Park. The men’s side came away with a 0-0 draw in the opening game but the Piranhas’ women’s squad dropped the high-scoring nightcap 5-3.
The PDL Piranhas travel to West Virginia for a July 4th match with the Chaos at 7:30 p.m. The W-League Piranhas’ next match is July 10 at Foster Field against Tampa in the 8 p.m. match of the final doubleheader with the men’s squad. The PDL team will host West Virginia in the second half of their home and home series at 5:30 p.m. Gates for the July 10 matches open at 4:30 p.m.
PDL Piranhas (4-3-3) at Cary Clarets (7-2-3)
“It was a very good, disciplined match with few chances for either side,” said head coach Jon Hall. “We neutralized each other and a draw was a good result. It was a win for us to get a point on the road from the best team we’ve played this season.” The two teams met on June 21 with Cary winning 2-0.

W-League Piranhas (4-5-0) at Cary Lady Clarets (4-4-1)
The Piranhas and Cary split their games this season with Hampton Roads winning the first meeting 2-1 on June 21 at Foster Field on two goals from Mercy Akide-Udoh. Udoh scored two goals Sunday night for the Piranhas in their 5-3 loss. Jamie Clark also scored for Hampton Roads and Kim Francis assisted on both Udoh goals. The Piranhas outshot the Lady Clarets 23-15.
