
HAMPTON ROADS RANKS AS NATION’S 4TH HIGHEST MARKET FOR WORLD CUP VIEWING
Includes metered market ratings for all games on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2
Virginia Beach, Virginia – According to ESPN, Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Portsmouth, Newport News area) has registered the fourth highest viewership in the country for World Cup broadcasts on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2. Our area fell just behind Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Washington, D.C. and New York in percentage of viewers. Hampton Roads came in ahead of other major metropolitan areas such as Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco, Philadelphia, Tampa and Chicago. In other words, soccer is a viable sport in Hampton Roads.
